KEUKA PARK, N.Y.- The SUNYIT Men's Volleyball team (16-4, 5-1 NEAC) picked up two huge wins this weekend at the NEAC Crossover Weekend hosted by Keuka College. The Wildcats swept a double-header first defeating Lancaster Bible College 3-1 (5-18, 3-3 NEAC), followed by Wells College 3-0 (16-10, 5-2 NEAC).

The first match of the day for the Wildcats was a revenge match as they were out to avenge their only NEAC loss of the season to Lancaster Bible College. After dropping the first game 18-25, the Wildcats found a way to bounce back and take the next three games by scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-10.

The Wildcats used their high powered offense to earn the victory as they had three players record double-digit kills in the match. A.J. Davids (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) led the way with 14 kills, while Sean Conte (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) and Matthew Cardot (Rush-Henrietta, N.Y. / Sperry) each chipped in ten apiece. Setter Jeff Knapp (Hamlin, N.Y. / Brockport) was a big key in getting the offense rolling as he recorded 43 assists on the match to lead the Wildcats.

Lancaster Bible got big production from Alex Bahn who had 14 kills, and 16 digs on the match as well as Mitch Demko who added 11 kills to go along with 12 digs.

The first match victory set up a second match battle for first place in the NEAC. The previously number-one ranked Wells Express were unable to retain their spot atop the standings however as the Wildcats' sound play propelled them to the 25-18, 25-21, and 25-16 sweep. It was Justin Rich's (Hamburg, N.Y. / Eden) solid play at libero that helped push the Wildcats to victory. Rich recorded 10 digs in the second match and a total of 23 on the day. It was again Davids, Conte, and Cardot who drove the Wildcats attack as the big three led the team in kills.

Wells College was led by John Farruggia who recorded 11 kills and also tallied 4 digs on the match.

The Wildcats are next in action Tuesday as they visit Keuka College for a 7:00 pm match. With the Wildcats sitting atop the NEAC standings and only two conference games remaining, they control their own destiny to secure the number 1 seed and host the NEAC tournament.
