Men's Volleyball Sweeps a Pair of Matches in Day One of SUNYIT Invitational

UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT men's volleyball team swept through a pair of matches during day one of the SUNYIT Invitational Saturday, defeating Hilbert College 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-21) and Bard College 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20).  The Wildcats are now 2-1 on the year.

Sophomore Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) led the way against Hilbert with 20 kills, while freshman Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had 15 kills and five serve aces and junior Ryan Meller (Eden, NY/Eden Central) finished with 13 kills, nine digs and three aces.  Senior setter Jonathan Brochu (Latham, NY/Shaker) handed out 47 assists.

Meller had another sensational all-around match against Bard, posting totals of 18 kills, 10 digs, three serve aces, two solo blocks and two assists.  Krowicki smashed 13 kills and had six digs, Coon finished with nine kills, seven total blocks and three serve aces and Brochu tallied 42 assists.

The Wildcats will be back in action with two more matches tomorrow, taking on Stevenson University at 10:00 am and Lasell College at 2:00 pm.
