MSOC: Wildcats Stay Undefeated in NEAC With Road Win at Gallaudet.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team traveled down to Gallaudet for a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). The Wildcats and the Bison played a heavily contested game that went down to the wire. SUNY Poly was ultimately able to pull off the win 3-2 to remain undefeated in NEAC play.

 

HOW IT HEPPENED:

The Bison struck first 16:20 in with a goal by Raymond Mukhailov. Later in the half Richie Morris (Spanish Town, Jamaica) would tie the game on a penalty kick. Minutes later Gallaudet would regain control on the scoreboard with a goal by Brian Espanto with 2 seconds left in the half. The Wildcats would go into the half down 2-1. But the second half would be a much different story for the Wildcats as their defense would lockdown and their offense would heat up. Once again Richie Morris would score to tie the game 2-2. Then after minutes of a deadlocked tie, the Wildcats would breakthrough. Akeem Shelton (Kingston, Jamaica) would break the tie with a goal assisted by Wakeley Banker (Warwick, N.Y.) with :04 remaining on the clock. The Wildcats pulled off the comeback to stay undefeated in NEAC play.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Richie Morris scored his 9th and 10th goals on the season and his 3rd multi-goal game of the season.
  • Akeem Shelton scored the game-winner for the 'Cats on his 5th of the year.
  •  SUNY Poly Goalkeeper James D'Alessio (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) tallied three saves in his 9th win.
  • Bisons Goalkeeper Shane Angel had a game-high five saves. 

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats look to continue their NEAC dominance home on October 26th against Lancaster Bible. The game is scheduled for a noon start time on Wildcat Field.
