MSOC: Wildcats Drop Home Opener to Utica College.

MARCY, N.Y.- The SUNY Poly men's soccer team lost a close 3-2 game to open their season Friday night against the Utica College Pioneers. After getting down a goal, the Wildcats came back to tie the game before the half. In the second half, Utica would come out hot and score two goals in just over 16 minutes. Poly nearly tied the game up late in the second half, but a great save kept the Pioneers in the driver's seat. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES 

  • Jamar Gayle (Kingston, Jamaica) lead all players with two goals on four shots on goal. 

  • Utica College had three players with goals in the game. Tucker Marvin, Ethan Thomas, and Daniel Varsames all found the back of the net.

  • Both Goalkeepers had multiple saves in the game. James D'Alessio (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) had a game-high three saves for Poly. Utica College Goalkeeper, Randy Miksch racked up a pair of saves and earned the win in goal.

 

UP NEXT

The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday, September 7th when they hit the road to take on Brooklyn College. The game is set for a 2:00 start.
