MBB: Wildcats Earn 16 Point Win in NAC Play Over NVU-Johnson.

JOHNSON, Vt. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with a 76-60 win over the NVU-Johnson Badgers. The Win was a true team effort with five players scoring in the double-digits. SUNY Poly is now 6-2 this season. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

Five Wildcats had double-digit scoring totals en route to the win. The double-digit scorers were the five starters; Josh Gregory, Jesse O'Dell, LJ Randle, Mitch Kernizan, and Josh Ernst. As a team, the Wildcats shot nearly 60% from the field (32-54) and had the edge on the glass (42-25). The Wildcat defense held the Badgers field goal percentage to 37.1%. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Josh Gregory recorded his fourth double-double of the season. He scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. 

  • Mitch Kernizan was a rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. 

  • Jesse O'Dell scored 12 points in the game, had four rebounds, and a team-high three assists.

  • LJ Randle shot 83% from the field, scoring 11 points. He also had four rebounds and an assist. 

  • Josh Ernst rounded out the Wildcats double-digit scorers. He scored 10 and had five rebounds and two assists. 

  • David Jordan had a team-high 16 points for the Badgers in 19 minutes off the bench. 

  • Samuel Stephens shot 55% and scored 15 points for Johnson. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will host Nazareth on Tuesday, December 12th at the Campus Center Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The SUNY Poly Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) will be collecting toys to donate to Toys for Tots at the game. The donations will be taken at the door.
