MBB: Wildcats Open NAC Play with a 68-52 Over SUNY Canton.

CANTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team improved to 5-2 this season with a 68-52 win over the SUNY Canton Kangaroos. The win was the Wildcat's first-ever win in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Wildcats got two standout performances en route to the win. Jesse O'Dell scored a game-high 20 points and Josh Gregory had 16 points. The Wildcat defense was the difference in the game, forcing 21 turnovers with 13 steals and seven blocks. They held the Roos to a field goal percentage of 34.5% and did not allow a single player to score more than eight points. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Jesse O'Dell led all scorers with 20 points. He shot 53% from the field and had four rebounds, a steal, and three blocks. 

  • Josh Gregory had 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.

  • Josh Ernst scored eight points on a perfect 4-4 shooting from the field. He also had five rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. 

  • LJ Randle scored eight points for the 'Cats and had five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. 

  • Alan Rodriguez scored eight points and shot 67% from the field in 24 minutes off the bench. He also ad a game-high four steals. 

  • Peyton Olsen led the scoring for Canton with eight points off the bench. 

  • DeMerrill Levy and Brennan Harmer each scored seven points for the Roos. 

  • Andrew Fitch had a game-high eight blocks for SUNY Canton. He also had a team-high eight rebounds.

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will play game two of their conference weekend trip on Saturday at NVU-Johnson. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
