MBB: Wildcats Take Season Finale 69-55 Over Wells.

Aurora, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team ended their regular season with a big North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win at Wells. The 'Cats were in control for the whole first half. The Express came out hot in the second half building up a 9-point lead but in the end, it would not be enough to stop SUNY Poly as they came back and won the game by a final score of 69-55.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats stayed hot heading into the post-season with two big time performances by Josh Gregory (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Redell Freeman (Rochester, N.Y.). "Free" had 23 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. While "Jiggy" finished the day with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks to record his twelfth double-double of the year. 

 NOTABLES:

  • The Wildcats had two players with double digit point totals. Redell Freeman had a team high 23 and Josh Gregory was right behind him with 22.
  • The 'Cats had two players hit the glass hard. Josh Gregory had a team high 11 rebounds. Peyton Griffiths (Milford,N.Y.) snatched nine boards.
  • The Express were led by Senior guard Rich Ross (Bronx,N.Y.) who had a game high 25 points.
  • Wells was led on the glass by sophomore Forward Jalen Tribble (Chicago, Ill.) who had nine rebounds.

 UP NEXT:

With the win, the Wildcats completed their comeback, clinched the #2 seed in the NEAC North Division. The Wildcats strong finish led them to the high seed after starting the season 0-4 in divisional play. Their efforts have given them the opportunity to host the NEAC Quarterfinal round at SUNY Poly's Campus Center Gym on Tuesday, February 19th.  The Wildcats will host SUNY Cobleskill in the quarterfinal game. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
