MBB: Wildcats Extend Win Streak to Five in Senior Day Win.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team extended their winning streak to five games with a big senior day win against St. Elizabeth. This win gives the Wildcats 11 on the year. The Wildcats and Eagles started the game out fighting back and forth for the lead. The Wildcats kicked it into gear midway through the first half never looked back. The final score of the game was 96-75.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats got a big performance off the bench from sophomore Josh Gregory (Whitesboro, N.Y.). "Jiggy" finished the day with 24 points, four rebounds, and an assist. The five seniors played a solid game for the Wildcats. Redell Freeman (Rochester, N.Y.) led the group with 16 points and had a game high six assists. Khrys Ramirez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a big day for the Wildcats dropping 15 points on six of eight shooting from the field.

 

NOTABLES:

  • The Wildcats had five players with double digit point totals. Josh Gregory had 24, Redell Freeman had 16, Khrys Ramirez dropped 15, Tyshaun Copper (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 14, and Senior Peyton Griffiths (Milford, N.Y.) rounded out the group with 13.
  • Jake Kulakowski (Brewerton, N.Y.) made a big contribution on the glass for the Cats with 11 total rebounds he also went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.
  • Tyshaun Copper was perfect from the free throw line in the game. The junior went 12 for 12 in the game from the charity stripe.
  • The Eagles were led by freshman guard Josh Jackson (Wrightstown, N.J.) who had a team high 15 points.
  • St. Elizabeth's top rebounder today was Ted Thelemaque (Toms River, N.J.) who had 9 off the glass for the Eagles.
  • The things that separated the Wildcats from the Eagles were their shooting percentages and points from bench players. The Cats had 51 points off the bench in comparison to 31 for the Eagles. Poly shot 42.2% from the field, 47.1% from three-point range, and 85% from the line.

The Wildcats have their last regular season home game on Wednesday February 13th. Tip-off is scheduled for a 7:00pm in the Campus Center Gym. The Wildcats are looking to keep their playoff push alive against NEAC north division foe SUNY Cobleskill.
