Golembiowski, Logins Combine for 46 Points to Lead Wildcats Past Penn State Abington 90-70

UTICA, NY – Seniors David Golembiowski (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) and Calvin Logins (Lyons, NY/Keuka College) scored 23 points apiece and helped the SUNYIT men's basketball team win its third straight contest with a 90-70 victory over the visiting Penn State Abington Nittany Lions Saturday.  The Wildcats are now 8-4 in the NEAC and 9-9 overall on the year, while Abington fell to 1-10 in the conference and 2-16 overall.

The senior duo missed just six shots between them on the day, with Golembiowski going 10-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and Logins shooting 7-of-10 from the floor while also sinking nine out of 10 free throw attempts.  Golembiowski also grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds in the contest, while Logins added six boards, five assists and two steals.

SUNYIT pulled away early in the first half, building a 22-12 lead after eight minutes of play and then doubling their lead to 20 points five minutes later before taking a 14-point, 46-32 advantage  into halftime.  The second half was much of the same, as the Wildcats led by at least 20 points throughout the half en route to the victory.

Sophomore Derek Rowe (Mexico, NY/Mexico) finished with 12 points and junior Alex Grimmer (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) registered eight points, five boards and two blocks.

William Alton scored 18 points for Abington, while Mike Colacci, Ravi Adams and Benjamin Moore all finished with 11 points.

The Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow when they host conference rival Penn State Berks.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
