WASHINGTON, D.C. – Seniors David Golembiowski (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) and Calvin Logins (Lyons, NY/Keuka College) combined for 53 points and helped the Wildcats end their two-game skid as the SUNYIT men's basketball team cruised past Gallaudet 69-46 in NEAC action Sunday.
The senior duo each made 11 field goals on the day, with Golembiowski scoring a game-high 27 points and Logins dropping 26 to produce all but 13 of the Wildcats' total points in the contest. Golembiowski also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
After the game was tied at nine all six minutes into the contest, SUNYIT would blow the game wide open with a 26-8 run over the next eight minutes to build an 18-point lead. It was essentially over from there, as the Wildcats held a double-digit lead the rest of the way en route to the victory.
Senior Kevin Cappiello (Youngsville, NY/Sullivan West) dished out a game-high nine assists, while junior Alex Grimmer (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) collected a game-high four steals.
Tony Tatum and Tyler Grace each scored 12 points for Gallaudet.
The Wildcats (6-4, 7-9) will be back in action this Wednesday when they travel to take on conference rival SUNY Cobleskill. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
