BASE: Walk-off Win Leads Wildcats to a Split Against Eastern Nazarene in Conference Play.

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's baseball team split in a doubleheader against Eastern Nazarene in North Atlantic Conference play on Sunday. The Wildcats dropped the first game of the twin bill 5-4, before winning on a walk-off base hit from Ethan Walker to win the second game 5-4. With the win, the Wildcats move to 11-13 on the season and 2-3 in NAC play.

GAME 1:

In the first game, Eastern Nazarene raced out to a 5-0 lead on defensive miscues from the Wildcats. A strong pitching performance from Francis Ferguson kept the Wildcats' bats quiet until the 6th inning, when the Wildcats scored their first two runs of the game to cut the ENC lead to 5-2. The Wildcats threatened in the bottom of the 7th, scoring two more runs, but ultimately falling to the Lions 5-4. For the Wildcats, Aaron Kifer pitched six strong innings, only allowing three runs, while Charlie Leo added a scoreless inning in relief. Ryan Pelton and Will Orlando led the Wildcats with two hits each.

GAME 2:

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Wildcats were led by Andrew Soule who pitched five scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and striking out four batters. The Wildcats scored first in the third inning, capitalizing on an ENC error to move runners around the bases to take a 3-0 lead. The Lions would answer back with three runs of their own in the 6th inning however to tie the game. In the bottom of the 6th, Christopher Martin would have a key RBI to give the Wildcats a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the 7th inning. Martin would have a stellar game, going 3-4 with an RBI and scoring a run. The Lions would answer in the top of the 7th, however, to again tie the game and put pressure on the Wildcats. In the bottom of the 7th, Parker Wing led off the inning with a walk, before a Ryan Pelton single moved him to second base. After a wild pitch moved Wing and Pelton to second and third, Ethan Walker hit a hard ground ball up the middle to the shortstop to score Wing and give the Wildcats the victory.
