UTICA, N.Y. – Several athletes from SUNYIT and Utica College were honored Friday afternoon at the Fort Schuyler Club for their selections this past year as Mohawk Valley Collegiate Athletes of the Month.

The award, which is sponsored by Northwestern Mutual and in its first year, was created to honor athletes from SUNYIT and Utica College for their outstanding achievements both on and off the field.

For SUNYIT, the following athletes were recognized:

Derek Struck, a freshman on the men’s cross country team from Knox, N.Y., for the month of September.

Stephanie Wurz, a junior on the women’s soccer team from Whitesboro, N.Y., for the month of September.

Dylan Parry, a junior on the men’s cross country team from Voorheesville, N.Y., for the month of October.

Dakota Hanley, a junior on the women’s soccer team from Franklin, N.Y., for the month of October.

Derek Rowe, a senior on the men’s basketball team from Mexico, N.Y., for the month of February.

Lyndsey Brognano, a senior on the women’s basketball team from Rome, N.Y., for the month of February.

Krista Pristera, a sophomore on the softball team from New Hartford, N.Y., for the month of March.

Chandler Evans, a senior on the baseball team from New Hartford, N.Y., for the month of March.
