WXC: Wildcats Celebrate Senior Class at Wildcat Classic.

UTICA, N.Y. - The Wildcat women's cross-country team hosted the 2023 Wildcat Classic Invitational on Saturday. The team placed 7th in the race with a team score of 173. After the race, the Wildcats held a short ceremony to celebrate senior Jennifer Walike's final race at the Wildcats home course.

 

Lilianna Peters, a freshman from SUNY Cobleskill, dominated the Women's 6K race, securing the top spot with a time of 23:28.3 and an impressive pace of 6:18 per mile. Peters set the tone for the event with her performance.

 

Jade Dening of Utica secured the second position, crossing the finish line in 24:07.9 with a pace of 6:29 per mile. Amelia Bowman-Mccoy of Herkimer CCC claimed the third position with a time of 24:18.7.

 

The team competition was fierce, with William Smith emerging as the victor, accumulating 48 points. Their top runners included Ainsley Woods, Hope Johnson, Abigail Cole, Erin Howe, and Lillian Morrell. Utica finished in second place with 61 points, while SUNY Cobleskill secured the third spot with 80 points.

 

The Wildcats placed seventh with a team score of 173. The team's finishers can be found below:

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will have next weekend off before returning to action on Saturday, October 7th at the Hamilton College Invitational. The race is scheduled for a 11:45 AM start.
