WXC: Wildcats Place 6th at Short Course Invitational

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's cross-country team competed in the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational on September 2, 2023, finishing in sixth place out of seven teams.

 

The women's 4K race featured a competitive field with several strong performances. Megan Francoeur from Oneonta took home the individual victory with an impressive time of 16:38.6. Her time broke the course record. SUNY Broome's Aja Jackson followed closely behind in second place with a time of 17:59.7. Herkimer County CC's Amelia Bowman-Mccoy and Utica's Jade Dening rounded out the top four finishers.

 

In the team standings, Oneonta claimed the top spot with a remarkable collective effort. They secured first place with a total team score of 23. They paced each of their top-5 runners in the top seven spots. They were followed by Utica in second place with 49 team points.

 

The SUNY Poly Wildcats displayed determination and teamwork throughout the race. Grace McClay led the team with a time of 25:02, securing the 23rd position. Rosalea Claeys and Jennifer Walike also contributed to the team's effort, finishing in 26th and 27th place respectively.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to Cobleskill on Saturday, September 9th to take part in the Steven A. Warde Invitational. The race is scheduled for a 10:30 AM start.
