WCC: Wildcats Race at Geneseo's Mike Woods Invitational.

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Poly cross country teams traveled to SUNY Geneseo for their largest regular-season race of the season against some tough Division III opponents on Saturday. The Wildcat men placed 28th out of 33 teams, surpassing some familiar faces along the way. The women did not place in the race as only three team members participated. 

 

The men's race was won by SUNY Geneseo with a score of 32, beating out Middlebury who scored 78, and Otterbein with 91. Geneseo runners placed 1, 4, 6, 10, and 11, which secured the victory for the Knights. The Wildcats scored their top three at 148, 171, and 174. Leading the pack for the Wildcats was senior Jake Baisley, who a 28:56.3 race in the 8K. Shortly behind him were sophomore Spencer Daley and senior Garrett Jones, who ran times of 29:40.1 and 29:45.4, respectively. 

 

In the Women's race, junior Lauren Phetteplace led the Wildcats with a time of 24:52.1, followed by sophomores Ruchika Kilaparty and Lauriana Beras Burgos with times of 28:18.4 and 42:11.4, respectively. Geneseo also won the race on the women's side with a score of 27 with finishers at 1, 2, 4, 6, and 14.

The Wildcats will travel to Clinton, N.Y on Saturday to take part in the Anual Hamilton College Invitational on October 9th. The race is scheduled for an 11:00 AM start.
