WVB: Wildcats Host SUNY Canton in First NAC Match of the Season.

UTICA, N.Y. - In a matchup at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House, the SUNY Poly women's volleyball team faced SUNY Canton in a North Atlantic Conference showdown. Despite a solid effort, the Wildcats fell short in a four-set battle, with SUNY Canton emerging as the victors. SUNY Poly is now 2-13 with a 0-1 record in NAC play.

 

The first set saw both teams battling fiercely for control, but SUNY Canton secured a narrow victory with a score of 25-23. The second set followed a similar pattern, with SUNY Canton once again prevailing, this time with a score of 25-20.

 

SUNY Poly, determined to mount a comeback, displayed their resilience in the third set. With an impressive offensive display, they captured the set 25-17. The crowd witnessed exceptional plays from both sides as the momentum shifted throughout the match.

 

In the fourth and final set, SUNY Canton surged ahead, clinching the victory with a score of 25-16. The SUNY Poly Wildcats showcased their talent and determination throughout the match, providing the fans with an exciting contest.

 

Brennah Durfee led the way for SUNY Poly with 14 kills, while Samantha Dee and Rylie Reynolds contributed six and seven kills, respectively. Grace Southwick played a vital role with 30 assists, and Meghan Peek led the team in digs with 26.

 

SUNY Canton was led by Sarah Balcom who had 12 kills and hit .375. Kaylee Clark had an impressive 34 digs in the match and had a team-high three aces. Sammie Frank had nine kills.

The Wildcats will travel to SUNY Delhi for a NAC tri-match on Sunday, October 8th. The Wildcats will play Delhi at 11:00 AM and Morrisville St. at 1:00 PM.
