WVB: Wildcats Fall to Wells in Straight Sets.

AURORA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Women's Volleyball team was beaten on the road on Friday afternoon. Wells won the match in straight sets with scores of 25-9, 25-12, and 25-18.

 

SUNY Poly fought hard throughout the contest, with Grace Southwick contributing two kills and 12 assists. Ryan Fitzgerald showcased her offensive prowess with seven kills, while Samantha Dee added three kills and seven digs. Meghan Peek had 11 digs as the Wildcats Libero. Despite their efforts, the Wildcats couldn't overcome the strong performance from Wells.

 

The Wells Express displayed a strong offensive performance, hitting at an impressive .268 percentage as a team. Alycia Wilson led the way for the Express, recording 11 kills with an outstanding .455 kill percentage. Marta Corral Cajigas contributed significantly with nine kills, while Lexi Carfi added six kills. Sarina Soto orchestrated the offense with 16 assists and also chipped in with a service ace.

 

Defensively, the Express were equally impressive, with Brianah Dawson leading the way with 12 digs. Roosa Armstead-Lehti and Elayna McDermott also played key roles in the backline defense, contributing a combined 20 digs. The team's blocking was solid, with a total of two blocks during the match.

The Wildcats will host the Alfred State Pioneers on Friday Night at the Wildcat Field House. The match is scheduled for a 5:00 PM start.
