WVB: Wildcats Take Down Nittany Lions in Four Sets to Improve to 3-1 in NEAC Play.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team (6-10, 3-1 NEAC) took down Penn State Berks (6-9, 3-1 NEAC) in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Saturday. The two teams split the first two sets, each finishing 25-18. The Wildcats would bounce back convincingly from a second set loss to take the third 25-16 before closing out the match with a 25-20 win in the fifth.

The Wildcats were led on the offensive side by the freshman trio of Brittany Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Karlie King (Liverpool, N.Y.), and Makayla Hulett (Colonie, N.Y.). Adams had a team high 11 kills and had three service aces. King had 10 kills on 43 attempts and had two service aces. Hulett had nine kills on 42 swings.

The Wildcats played well on defense as well, racking up 18 block assists in the match. Megan Will (Remsen, N.Y.) led all players with five block assists. Will also had seven kills and 10 digs in the match. Makayla Hulett and Cassandra Campion (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) also joined the block party with four block assists each. Brittany Adams had three block assists in the match as well.

Karlie King, Samantha Henry (Greenport, N.Y.), and Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, Wash.) led the way for the Wildcats on the digs front. King had a team high 17 digs while Henry and Johnson each had 13.

Sydney Johnson had 44 assists in the match, setting a new season high and bringing her career total to 2,531. Her single match high is 62.

For Berks, Alexis Horst had a match high 17 kills and 16 digs. Megan Lackman had a match high 26 digs and had nine kills. Maddy Kessler had a match high five service aces. Kessler and Abbie Carr each had a team high four block assists.

The Wildcats will host Morrisville State on Tuesday in a NEAC matchup. The Mustangs are currently tied with the Wildcats for second place in the NEAC North Division at 3-1. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House.
