WVB: Johnson Named NEAC Player of the Week After Helping Wildcats Clinch Top NEAC Seed.

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - SUNY Poly setter Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, Wash.) has been named the NEAC Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 17th to the 23rd. An excerpt from the NEAC press release about Johnsons selection can be found below.

 

"Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, Wash.) has been chosen as the NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after a tremendous week for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Wildcats.  The sophomore setter assisted the Wildcats to a perfect 4-0 week, including three huge conference wins that clinched their second straight regular season championship.  Johnson averaged 10.71 assists through 14 sets on the week, passing out at least 35 helpers in all four matches that began with 36 assists in a 3-0 sweep over Hamilton Wednesday.  She then started off conference play by tying her season high with 44 assists in a 3-1 victory over Cazenovia Saturday, before registering a double-double of 35 assists and 10 digs in a 3-0 sweep over Wells later that day.  She matched that with 35 more assists in a 3-1 triumph over Keuka Sunday, leaving her with a weekly total of 150 assists to go with 24 digs, four aces and five kills with no errors on 10 swings.   Johnson is now second in both assists (886) and assists per set (9.04) for the Wildcats, who completed conference play with 12-1 record while improving to 18-10 overall."
