WVB: Wildcats Take Down Lancaster, Penn, and Berks to go 3-0 in NEAC Play.

READING, Pa. – The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team traveled to Pennsylvania this past weekend for the third of four NEAC Crossover weekends of the 2016 season. The Wildcats went 3-0 with wins over Lancaster Bible, Penn College, and Penn State Berks.

Friday's match saw the Wildcats take down Lancaster Bible in four sets 25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24. The Wildcats came out of the gate with a big set one win over the Chargers hitting .321 to Lancaster's -.032. The next three sets were closely contested between the two teams. The Wildcats would drop set two, but would battle to win sets three and four to take the win. The Wildcats senior hitters led their squad to victory. Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y.) had a match high 19 kills and hit .265 on 49 attempts. Smith also had a team high 14 digs and a service ace in the match. Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y.) hit a team high .289 in the match. The senior had 17 kills, two service aces, and nine digs. SUNY Poly Setter Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, W.A.) set her season high assists mark in the match with 44, surpassing her earlier high of 43.  

On Saturday the Wildcats faced off with Penn College for the first of two matches. SUNY Poly won in four sets again, this time by a larger point margin; 25-12, 25-13, 26-24, 25-15. Ryenn Smith led the Wildcats with a match high 15 kills on 35 attempts for a hitting percentage of .343. Emma Larson and Melissa Krak (Canastota, N.Y.) added 11 and 10 kills to the cause respectively. Larson had nine digs and an ace, Krak had 10 digs and two aces. Sydney Johnson again had 40+ assists in the match. She finished the match with 41 assists, 10 digs, and a service ace.

The Wildcats beat Penn State Berks 3-0 in the third match of the weekend 25-21, 25-23, 25-15. Emma Larson had a monster match. Larson lead all players in kills (14), hitting percentage (.462), service aces (5), and digs (16). Melissa Krak also had a solid match. She recorded 13 kills on 38 swings and had a service ace and three digs. Lauren Knowles (Washingtonville, N.Y.) had a good day at the net recording a solo block and two block assists.

The Wildcats are now 13-6 overall and 9-1 in the NEAC which is good for first place. The team will be back in action on Tuesday when they will take the short trip across town to take on Utica College. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start. Live video will be available for the match.
