WVB: Wildcats Fight for a Noble Cause; the Relay for Life.

MARCY, N.Y. - Much has been said about the SUNY Poly women's volleyball teams success on the court in the recent past. What typically gets lost is the heart and dedication of these young women off the court and in the community. The latest example of their dedication and caring is their formation of a team in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

The team has been raising money for the last month and a half and has, to this point, raised $1,930 for cancer research. Their team was created in the memory of Junior Shelby Kostal's Aunt Debbie who fought a hard battle with breast cancer before succumbing to the disease in the fall.

"Aunt Debbie was a fun, loving and free-spirited individual that loved everyone in her life.

Throughout her Aunt's struggle, Shelby was still able to come to practice and give it her all even though we all knew she was not okay. She kept telling us that, "Aunt Debbie would want me here, playing volleyball and fighting for a conference championship.

The SUNY Poly Women's Volleyball team walks for Aunt Debbie."

The Relay for life will take place in the Wildcat Field House on the campus of SUNY Poly April 1st and 2nd from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
