Volleyball Splits on First Day of NEAC Crossover Hosted by Cazenovia College

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Volleyball Team (12-12, 4-3 NEAC) dropped a tough four-setter to Keuka on Friday before sweeping the host Cazenovia Wildcats in three sets to finish the first day of a big NEAC Crossover at 1-1.

The Wildcats won the first set over Keuka 25-23 before dropping the next three sets, 23-25, 11-25, and 22-25.

Erika Reakes (Brewerton, N.Y. / Paul V. Moore) recorded 21 digs on the match, while Megan Will (Remsen, N.Y. / Remsen) and Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) tied for the team-lead in kills with 10. Setter Rebecca Sheely (Schuylerville, N.Y. / Schuylerville) finished with 29 assists.

SUNY Poly rebounded to the loss with a dominating sweep of Cazenovia, winning 25-11, 25-13, 25-20. Megan Will had a near-flawless match as she recorded 10 kills on just 13 swings and no errors. Larson added 7 kills and 5 service aces, and middle-hitter Phebe Lamont (Waterville, N.Y. / Waterville) had 5 kills.

"Our girls battled today through some ups and downs – we didn't really play our best but found ways to get back on track and play our style of volleyball. We're looking forward to tomorrow."
