Women’s Volleyball Evens Record with 3-0 Victory Over Southern Vermont

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Volleyball Team (11-11) pulled to .500 on the season with a 3-0 sweep of the Southern Vermont Mountaineers (4-7) on Tuesday night. The match marked SUNY Poly's penultimate home match for the year.

SUNY Poly cruised along easily for the most part. The Mountaineers threatened in the second set, pulling to within one point at 19-18 before a Wildcat timeout. But out of the timeout Morgan Eberley (Utica, N.Y. / Whitesboro) would engineer a kill on an assist from Shelby Kostal (Greenport, N.Y. / Greenport) to give the Wildcats the serve back. Eberley went on to serve the next four points, with Emily Frasier (Gloversville, N.Y. / Mayfield) coming on to serve the final point which was an ace for the junior outside-hitter. In all, the Wildcats won six-straight points to close out the set.

Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) had a huge match for the Wildcats. The sophomore led all players with 12 kills on just 24 attempts and 3 errors (.375 hitting percentage). Most impressively, though, Larson led with 7 service aces on the day while recording just one service error.

On the other side of the net, the Mountaineers were led by Jessica Delgado, who recorded 10 kills on 27 attempts (.296 hitting) to go along with 6 aces.

Joining Larson and Delgado as the only other player with double-digit kills was junior team co-captain Morgan Eberley (Utica, N.Y. / Whitesboro). Eberley had a solid hitting night with 10 kills on 27 attempts, and had a team second-best 10 digs as well as 3 service aces.

The Wildcats will next hit the road for a big conference weekend, as they head to Cazenovia for a four-match NEAC tilt. The team's first match is scheduled for this Saturday at 4:00 pm, in which they will take on Keuka.
