AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Volleyball Team (7-8, 2-2 NEAC) came away from its first NEAC weekend of matches with an even split, running their NEAC record to 2-2. The invitational was hosted by Wells College. The Wildcats defeated Bryn Athyn in straight sets (3-0) in their opening match, before falling to Penn St.-Berks 3-0 in the nightcap. On Day 2, SUNY Poly swept Penn College before falling to defending NEAC Champion Gallaudet in straight sets.

The Wildcats showed no mercy on the NEAC's two new member schools, starting with the sweep of Bryn Athyn. SUNY Poly won each set by 5 or more points, with Morgan Eberley (Utica, N.Y. / Whitesboro) leading the team in kills (10).

The Wildcats had the tables turned on them in their second match, as the Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Berks cruised to a 3-set win. Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) had a terrific match in defeat, leading all players with 12 kills on just 19 attempts and 2 errors, good for a match-high .526 hitting percentage. Larson also posted 13 digs.

On Sunday SUNY Poly returned to form with a sweep of the Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT). Eberley again led the team in kills, tallying 13 on 22 attempts and 2 errors, good for a .500 hitting percentage. Sophomore Shelby Kostal (Greenport, N.Y. / Greenport) followed Eberley with 10 kills. Emma Larson continued her hot serving streak, recording 5 aces to lead the Wildcats.

In their final match the Wildcats ran into a buzz saw in the form perennial powerhouse Gallaudet. The Bison recorded a whopping .442 hitting percentage as a team en route to the 3-0 sweep.

At 2-2 the Wildcats find themselves right in the middle of the NEAC standings. They will look to improve on that record as they travel to SUNY Cobleskill on Monday for a 7:00 pm match.
