Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Winners Announced: Harrington Named NEAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year while Bluhm Voted Coach of the Year

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – After a record-setting regular season, the awards piled in on Tuesday for the SUNYIT Women's Volleyball Team (28-4).

SUNYIT senior outside-hitter Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, N.Y. / Paul V. Moore) was named the NEAC Player of the Year after an outstanding year for the Wildcats. Harrington led the team in both kills and service aces, and helped lead the team to its best season ever with 28 wins. A three-year captain, Harrington's great play and even greater leadership saw the Wildcats post a 9-1 record in conference and earn a share of the NEAC Regular Season Title.

Also announced on Tuesday, SUNYIT Head Coach Jake Bluhm (3rd season) was awarded the NEAC Coach of the Year honor after guiding this year's squad through an impressive turnaround: after going just 12-24 last year, the Wildcats added 16 wins to their total this year, even rattling off a 24-match win streak at one point, which was the longest in the nation at the time.

In total, the Wildcats had four players named to the All-Conference team. Co-captain Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, N.Y. / LaFayette) joined Harrington on the All-NEAC 1st Team, while sophomore libero Erika Reakes (Central Square, N.Y. / Paul V. Moore) was named to the All-NEAC 2nd Team and senior outside-hitter Hanne Saarinen (Lempaala, Finland / Tampereen Lyseon Lukio) was named to the 3rd Team.

Harrington's selection marked her 4th career All-NEAC award and second time being named to the 1st Team; Jackowski made All-Conference for the 3rd time in her career while enjoying her first All-NEAC 1st-Team selection, while Saarinen and Reakes accepted their first career All-NEAC awards.
