Wildcats Off to 2-0 Start on Day 1 of Wildcat Classic

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Volleyball Team continued their torrid string of wins in 2013, beating D'Youville and Cazenovia on Friday to improve to 15-1 on the year.

The Wildcats didn't drop a set on the day. In the first match SUNYIT cruised to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 win as Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, N.Y. / Paul V. Moore) crushed 11 kills on just 19 attempts. Harrington wasn't the only one hitting with accuracy, as fellow senior Hanne Saarinen (Lempaala, Finland / Tampereen Lyseon Lukio) led the team with 13 kills on just 26 kills, good for a .500 hitting percentage.

In the Wildcats second match, they defeated York by a tally of 25-7, 25-18, 25-13. Harrington led with 10 kills, but first-year Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) was right behind with 8 kills on only 10 attempts, good for a whopping .800 hitting percentage. Larson, who has a deadly serve when it's on, also registered 4 aces.

SUNYIT will look to stay hot with two more matches on Saturday. In the first match at 10:00 am the Wildcats will square off against Alfred State, while SUNYIT will take on SUNY Canton (incidentally, Canton is the only team to beat SUNYIT so far in 2013, back on August 30th in SUNYIT's first match of the year) at noon.
