Wildcats Improve to 4-0 in Conference with Win over Cobleskill

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Volleyball Team (14-1, 4-0 NEAC) added to their impressive win tally with a 3-0 victory over NEAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats kept the Tigers at arm's length for most of the match, winning 25-17, 25-17, 25-18. The contest was not without drama, however, as the Fighting Tigers led 13-11 in set two. Ultimately the Wildcat attack was too strong, as Hanne Saarinen (Lempaala, Finland / Tampereen Lyseon Lukio) led all scorers with 13 kills.

On the other side of the net, it was Kady Porterfield leading the Tigers with 5 kills, while Amber Baker led the team with 7 digs.

In an all-around solid match, SUNYIT even had contributions from reserves such as Holly Loveless (Brewerton, N.Y. / Paul V. Moore). The 6-foot middle came in for the third set and registered 3 kills on just 4 attempts, good for a .750 hitting percentage.

The Wildcats now will gear up for another big weekend, as they host the Wildcat Classic at SUNYIT starting this Friday at 4 pm.
