WSOC: Harrison Scores in Double Overtime to Beat Canton 2-1.

CANTON, N.Y. - Great defense led the SUNY Poly Wildcats (8-1-1) to a 2-1 win in double overtime over SUNY Canton (5-7) on Thursday. The Wildcats struck first in the game but were quickly answered by the Roos. The two teams played airtight defense up until the Wildcats capitalized on an opportunity in the 104th minute.  

The Wildcats first goal of the game was scored by Ashley O'Connor (Remsen, N.Y.) in the 25th minute on a double assist by Brittney Waterbury (Remsen, N.Y.) and Meral Evke (New Hartford, N.Y.). The Roos answered back just as the first half ended with a goal from Alyssa Stanley off an assist by Madison Rowe.

The game winning goal for the Wildcats was scored by Shannon Harrison (Holland Patent, N.Y.) in the second overtime. Harrison gathered a loose ball at the top of the box and chipped a perfectly arced shot over the goalkeeper.

Angela Bartlett (West Winfield, N.Y.) earned the win in goal for the Wildcats. She is now 8-1-1 on the year. She made five saves in the game.

The Wildcats will take the road and face the Cazenovia College Wildcats in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. Cazenovia is 7-3-0 so far this season.
