WSOC: Wildcats Still Unbeaten After Two NEAC Wins Over Keuka and Wells.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team continued their unbeaten streak this weekend by going 2-0 in NEAC play. The Wildcats beat Keuka on Saturday 1-0 and Wells on Sunday 2-0 to bring their current winning streak to six games. The defensive unit for the Wildcats held their opponents scoreless for the fourth and fifth times this season.

On Saturday the Wildcats one goal was enough for the win after holding Keuka scoreless. The difference maker in the game was McKenna Hungerford (Morris, N.Y.) who scored the game winning goal in the 62nd minute of play on a great double assist play right in front of the goal. The play was started when Nakeya Stedman (Sauquoit, N.Y.) drove through to the center of the box and dished a pass right to Brittany Waterbury (Remsen, N.Y.) who one touched a dime pass to Hungerford who found the back of the net with a chip shot. The goal was her second of the season.

In the game on Saturday Nakeya Stedman was the stand out player. Stedman scored two unassisted goals in the game to give the Wildcats the 2-0 win. Stedman beat defenders with her speed around the corner on both goals, beating multiple defenders on the second. She now has a team high seven goals on the year. Alexa Yousey (Lowville, N.Y.), Natalie Streifert (Rome, N.Y.), and Alicia Wittmann (Rome, N.Y.) anchored the Wildcats defensive backfield that kept Wells off the board. All three played outstanding defense.

Angela Bartlett (West Winfield, N.Y.) had yet another great weekend in goal for the Wildcats. Bartlett made an outstanding 13 saves over the two game stretch bringing her save percentage to an outstanding .881. She has allowed just five goals in eight games and has a goals against average of .62 per game.
