Women's Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Season with a 4-1 Loss to Utica

UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season with a 4-1 loss to local rival Utica College at the Wildcat Soccer Field Wednesday.  The Wildcats are now 2-1 on the year, while Utica improved to 1-2.

Utica controlled the field for most of the contest, getting off 12 shots on goal to just two for SUNYIT.   Utica's first goal came just under 12 minutes into the contest when Cheyenne Chrzanowski fired a shot from the top of the box then sailed over the outstretched arm of Wildcat freshman goalie Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, NY/Auburn)

The game would go into halftime at 1-0 before Utica exploded for three goals in the second half, including two from Alyssa Upson.  SUNYIT's lone goal came late in the half when freshman Jamie Elderbroom (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) found the back of the net at the 79-minute mark off an assist from fellow classmate Stephanie Wurz (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor).

Campbell finished the day with seven saves for SUNYIT, while Utica goalie Jocelyn Rivera made one save.

The Wildcats will look to rebound this Saturday when they host NEAC rival the College of Saint Elizabeth.  The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
