DiNitto Nets Hat Trick, Breaks Record for Most Goals and Points in a Season as SUNYIT Cruises Past Keuka to Finish Regular Season Undefeated in NEAC

UTICA, NY – Junior Nicole DiNitto (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) netted her second hat trick of the season and broke the program records for both the most goals and most points in a season as the SUNYIT women's soccer team cruised past Keuka College 7-1 at the Wildcat Soccer Field Saturday.  With the victory, the Lady Wildcats finished the regular season a perfect 11-0 in the NEAC and 12-5 overall.

Despite the contest marking the team's Senior Day in which the squad's eight seniors were honored, it was DiNitto who stole the show.  DiNitto has now scored 17 goals on the season, breaking the record of 16 set by Traci Bickelhaupt (2008-09) last season, while her 44 points this season broke the mark of 37 set by senior Jane Burroughs (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) in 2008.  The 5-foot-7 forward also had two assists on the day to give her seven for the year.

Freshman Kristina Strang (Rotterdam, NY/Schalmont) added two goals in the victory to give her 10 on the year, while senior Lauryne Zinter (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater) finished with two assists to place her in a tie with Burroughs for the program record for most assists in a season with nine.  Burroughs finished with a goal and an assist, while freshman Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater) scored her sixth goal of the year.

Freshman goalie Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) made five saves in 67 minutes of action for SUNYIT, while senior Cynthia DeLeon (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) stopped two shots in 14 minutes of work.

Keuka sophomore Nicole Sharick scored the team's lone goal off an assist from fellow classmate Sarah Capek

The Lady Wildcats had already wrapped up the NEAC regular season championship last weekend, which earned them the right to host the NEAC Tournament at the Wildcat Soccer Field this Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7.  The rest of the field and start times for each game have yet to be determined.
