DiNitto Nets Hat Trick to Lead SUNYIT Past Penn State Abington

ABINGTON, PA – SUNYIT junior Nicole DiNitto (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) netted all three of the Lady Wildcats' goals to lead her squad to a 3-1 lead over NEAC rival Penn State Abington Saturday.  The Wildcats remained undefeated in conference play at 4-0 and are 6-2 overall.

After a scoreless first half, DiNitto gave SUNYIT the lead with a goal at the 53-minute mark off an assist from freshman Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater).  Abington would tie the game 11 minutes later on an unassisted goal by Brittany Middleton, but DiNitto and Hanehan would hook up again for the game-winning goal at the 65-minute mark.  DiNitto clinched the victory and the hat trick when she found the back of the net on a penalty kick with 11 minutes left in the contest.

"We again were slow out of the gate and did not capitalize on three to four quality chances in the first half, but we settled in during the second half and played our game," said head coach Tyler Renaud.  "DiNitto obviously set up for us in the latter 45 minutes and played great.  We need to start capitalizing on our scoring chances and shore up our defense as a whole unit."

Freshman Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) had four saves and allowed one goal in 61 minutes of action for the Wildcats, while fellow classmate Margaret Werencsak (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) stopped one shot in 29 minutes of work.
