Burroughs Ties All-Time Career Goals Mark as Lady Wildcats Cruise to 6-0 Victory over Saint Elizabeth

UTICA, NY – Senior Jane Burroughs (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) scored her second goal of the season to place herself in a tie for first all-time in career goals scored and the SUNYIT women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory over the visiting College of Saint Elizabeth Eagles in NEAC action at the Wildcat Soccer Field Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats are now 1-0 in conference play and 3-1 overall, while the Eagles dropped to 0-1 in the NEAC and 1-3 overall.

Burroughs' goal came on a penalty kick six minutes into the second half, tying her with Traci Bickelhaupt ('10) for the program record for career goals scored with 30.  Burroughs is already the program leader in both career assists and points.

The Wildcats scored in bunches on the day, registering their first three goals within three minutes of each other in the first half before adding two in the second half that were just 53 seconds apart.  Sophomore Amanda Myers (Boonville, NY/Adirondack) got the scoring started on a breakaway goal at 11:38 off assists from freshman Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater) and senior Lauryne Zinter (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater).  Two minutes later, freshman Kristina Strang (Rotterdam, NY/Schalmont) would score off a nice cross pass from Hanehan, and that would be followed up by another breakaway goal from Myers at 14:38 off an up field pass from junior Nicole DiNitto (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany).

It would be much of the same in the second half.  After Burroughs' goal at 51:40, DiNitto would add an unassisted goal a minute later.  A late goal by freshman Amanda Bohne (Clay, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) from the left wing would round out the Wildcat goals on the day.

The Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow when they host NEAC rival Wilson College at noon.
