WLAX: Wildcats Pour it on at Home Against the Hornets.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team dominated against the Vermont State Lyndon Hornets, winning by a score of 18-2. Senior Katie Kopcza continued her impressive point streak, picking up 10 points in the match, as well as earning her 100th career point. The victory puts the Wildcats at 3-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Wildcats opened the game strong, dominating from the very start. Goals from Kaitlin Kopcza, Abigail Rosaschi, Katelynn Truax and Madyn LaFleur gave the Wildcats a 6-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. 

SUNY Poly continued to control the game in the second, with goals coming from Micheala Johnson, and Kopcza. The Hornets would get a goal on the board, but would trail the Wildcats 10-1 heading into halftime. 

The second half was much like the first, as the Wildcats would continue to pressure the Hornets, adding eight more goals over the next two quarters. Kopcza would register her 100th career point in the half, adding another impressive notch to her hot start of the season. Kopcza now has 48 points in seven games this season. The Wildcats would win by a score of 18-2. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Katie Kopcza picked up her career 100th point after registering 10 points in the game (6 goals, 4 assists) 
  • Rylie Fischer won 11 draw controls while also causing two turnovers. 
  • Katelynn Truax netted three goals on eight shots.
