WLAX: Burdick Ties Single Game Goals Record in First Wildcat Win of the Season.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team won their first game of the 2022 season on Wednesday night 18-4 over North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent NVU-Lyndon. The Wildcats got some great performances in the win, including a huge 10-goal game by Molly Burdick to tie the single-game goals record at SUNY Poly. The win was also head coach Charles Rosaschi's first career win.

 

The Wildcats scored the first 12 goals of the game unanswered to jump ahead to a commanding lead. The rest of the game was smooth sailing for the Wildcats with the duo of Molly Burdick and Rachel Salmon accounting for 16 of the Wildcat's 18 goals. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Molly Burdick had a huge day, scoring 11 points on a career-high 10 goals and an assist. The 10 goals tied the single-game record at SUNY Poly. 

  • Rachel Salmon had career-high six goals and an assist She also had a game-high 11 groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. 

  • Emma Draper scored her first career goal in the game. She also had five groundballs. 

  • Madison Bastien scored a goal and had a pair of assists to record three points, a career high. She also had a career-high five groundballs and a career-high three caused turnovers. 

  • Alycia Lugo earned the win in goal, making 14 saves on 18 shots faced. 
  • Katie Cushing scored three of the Hornet's four goals. 

  • Isabel Bourgeois accounted for the other two points with a goal and an assist. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will travel north to take on Maine Maritime in a NAC game on Saturday. The game is the first of two games in Maine for the Wildcats, a trip that will wrap up the conference schedule for the season. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
