MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team is heading to the NEAC Championship on Sunday after earning a 21-16 win over Keuka College in the NEAC Semifinals. The Wildcats never trailed in the game and grew their lead to as many as eight goals. The Wildcats will face the Morrisville Mustangs for the title on Sunday, May 5th at 1:00 PM. The Mustangs advanced to the NEAC final in a blowout win over Cazenovia on Saturday.

RECORD BROKEN:

Entering the NEAC Semifinal Game SUNY Poly's Kayla Prosinski (Endwell, N.Y.) was just two points shy of tying the all-time scoring record at SUNY Poly. She tied the record just six minutes into the game on an assist and broke the record with 10:15 to go in the first half on a goal. The junior has set the bar high for career points. The record now stands at 273 and counting.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats got great production from three familiar names in the win. Kayla Prosinski led all players with nine points. Emily Somes (Elbridge, N.Y.) and Samantha Dayter (Cohoes, N.Y.) each had six points for SUNY Poly. Somes scored five goals and had an assist. Dayter had two goals and four assists. A 5-1 run to start the second half is what ultimately put the game away pushing a four-goal lead all the way to eight to put the game out of reach for the Wolves.

NOTABLES:

• Kayla Prosinski scored a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists. It is the 12th time this season that she has scored eight or more points. She also had a game-high 12 draw controls in the game. The Wildcats are 7-1 this season when Prosinski has eight or more draw controls.
• Emily Somes had six points for the Wildcats on five goals and an assist. Somes became the second Wildcat to reach the 100 point mark in a single season, joining her teammate Prosinski atop the record book category. Before this season the best single-season points total was 86.
• NEAC Rookie of the Year Samantha Dayter scored six points in the game on two goals and four assists. It is her ninth game this season with five or more points.
• Kaley Pichura (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored three goals in the game for SUNY Poly. The three points ties a career high.  
• Kristen Deuel (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Molly Burdick (Vestal, N.Y.) both had two goals for the Wildcats.
• Alycia Lugo (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) made 15 saves en route to her 12th win of the season.
• Keuka's Kendall Neuberger led the Wolves with five points on three goals and two assists.
• Keuka's goalies made eight saves as a unit. Janelle Thomas was the losing goalie. She is now 3-1.
• Sydney Bloom had a team-high four goals for the Wolves.

The Wildcats will square off with the Morrisville State Mustangs for the NEAC Championship Title on Sunday, May 5th at 1:00 PM. The winner of the Championship game will receive an automatic qualifying bid to the 2019 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
