MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team advanced to the NEAC Semifinal round on Tuesday with a 19-12 win over the Medaille College Mavericks in the NEAC Quarterfinal. The Wildcats are now 11-6 this season. The NEAC Final Four will feature #1 Morrisville, #2 Keuka College, #3 SUNY Poly, and #4 Cazenovia. The Wildcats will take on Keuka in the first round on Saturday at Morrisville State. The game was historically significant for the Wildcats as it saw Kayla Prosinski (Endwell, N.Y.) become the first Wildcat to ever score 100 goals in a single season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats got out to a good start, taking a 12-8 lead in the first half. Emily Somes (Elbridge, N.Y.), Kayla Prosinski, and Samantha Dayter (Cohoes, N.Y.) led the way in the first half for SUNY Poly. Somes had five goals in the half. Prosinski had five points on four goals and an assist. Dayter had four points on two goals and a pair of assists. In the second half, the Wildcats out-scored the Mavericks 7-4 to finish off the win, advancing to the NEAC Final Four at Morrisville State.

NOTABLES:

• Kayla Prosinski had a game-high nine points for SUNY Poly. The junior scored eight goals and had an assist. Her fourth goal of the game was her 100th of the season making her the first Wildcat to ever score 100 goals in a single season. She currently has 264 career points. She has climbed to second all-time in points and is just one point short of tying the all-time record at SUNY Poly. Prosinski also had a game-high 11 ground balls, and a game-high seven caused turnovers.
• Emily Somes had seven points in the game. She scored six goals and had an assist. Somes also caused four turnovers, had five groundballs and won two draw controls.
• Samantha Dayter scored two goals and had a team-high three assists. She also won a game-high nine draw controls.
• Kaley Pichura (Syracuse, N.Y.) had three points for the Wildcats on two goals and an assist. She also had a groundball and caused a turnover.
• Alycia Lugo (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) improved to 11-4 this season in goal for the Wildcats. She made five saves in the game.
• Kelsey Beres and Emma Campagna each scored five points for Medaille. Beres had two goals and three assists. Campagna had four goals and an assist.
• Alexis Ackerson had four goals for the Mavericks.
• Brianna Phillips made 15 saves in goal for Medaille but was on the losing end of the decision. She finished her season with an 8-10 record.

The Wildcats will head to Morrisville State on Saturday to compete in the NEAC Final Four. The Wildcats will face Keuka College in the first round. The game is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 4th. The winner of the game will advance to the NEAC Championship on Sunday, March 5th at 1:00 PM
