MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team earned a thrilling win over Wells College on Sunday in an epic shootout which saw 45 goals scored. The game was one of the finest displays of scoring to ever take place at SUNY Poly's Wildcat field, with a final score of 23-22. With the one-goal win, the Wildcats improve to 7-0 in NEAC play. The game was all tied up with less than a minute left in regulation when Kayla Prosinski (Endwell, N.Y.) scored the game-winning, man-down goal with 32 ticks left on the game clock.

GAME WINNER:

With the game tied and 1:13 left in the game, a shot by Wells's Mackenzie Maloney was saved by Alycia Lugo, leading to a clear attempt. The Wildcats would convert the clear and put the ball in Kayla Prosinski's stick. Prosinski would make a solo move for the goal man-down, ultimately beating the goalkeeper for the 10th time in the game. The goal gave the Wildcats their final lead of the game, helping them improve to 7-0 in NEAC play.

NOTABLES:

• Kayla Prosinski not only scored the game-winning goal, but she also set a new career high with 10 goals in the game. She finished the game with 12 points, a game-high 14 ground balls, a game-high 10 draw controls, and a game-high three caused turnovers. The performance was amplified by the close nature of the game.

• Emily Somes (Elbridge, N.Y.) had eight points for the Wildcats. The junior scored six goals and had two assists. She also had nine ground balls, eight draw controls, and a caused turnover.

• Jenny Maxam (Clinton, N.Y.) and Samantha Dayter (Cohoes, N.Y.) both scored four points in the game. Maxam had three goals and an assist. Dayter had four goals.

• Alycia Lugo (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) earned the win in goal for the Wildcats. She made 11 saves to improve to 9-3 this season.

• Mackenzie Maloney had a fantastic game for the Express. She scored a game-high 13 points on seven goals and six assists. She also had a team-high seven ground balls, a team-high eight draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

• Renee Bartosz had seven points on four goals and three assists for the Express.

• Savanah Connors had six goals for Wells College.

• Anna Bozeat made 15 saves in goal for Wells. She was tagged with the loss in goal.

The Wildcats will return to play on Thursday, April 18th when they will travel to SUNY Potsdam for a non-conference game. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
