Lady Wildcats Win in Dramatic Fashion Over Lancaster, Keep Rolling to Finish Weekend 2-0

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Lacrosse Team (3-6, 3-1 NEAC) finished the weekend 2-0 after a dramatic 11-10 win over Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, followed by a 16-1 runaway win over Hilbert on Sunday.

Saturday, April 13th

SUNYIT 11, LANCASTER BIBLE COLLEGE 10

In a back-and-forth game, neither team led by more than two goals at any point. For the Wildcats it was a story of dual scorers, as freshman phenom Laura Tolbert (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) and junior captain Amanda Bohne (Clay, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) scored 5 goals apiece on the game.

Bohne's second biggest goal of the day came with just a few seconds left in the game. The midfielder charged towards the goal and was fouled, and converted the free position shot to tie the game at 10-10.

How the Chargers came to hold the lead in the first place was as simple as one name: Whitney Heisee. Heisee had a whopping 8 of the Chargers' 10 goals on the day, and scored three straight late in the second half to take Lancaster from down 9-7 to up 10-9.

The two teams battled through the first overtime, and appeared set to do the same in the second before Bohne broke free with 52 seconds left to net the game-winner.

Sunday, April 14th

SUNYIT 16, WILSON 1

After their thrilling win a day earlier, the Wildcats left nothing to chance in a blowout victory over Wilson on Sunday.

Once again Amanda Bohne led the Wildcats with 4 goals, but this time was joined by senior Caitlin Cottell (Eaton Town, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic High School) who scored a season-high 4 goals and added an assist.

The highlight of the game, however, was junior Jennifer Bullock (Bronx, N.Y. / NYC Museum High School), who scored her first career goal with 9:04 remaining in the first half. As an encore, Bullock added another goal several minutes later to finish with two on the day.

The Wildcats will play next at home again on Wednesday, April 17th. Game time is set for 7:00 pm, as SUNYIT hosts the Mustangs of Morrisville State.
