Lax Ladies Go Toe-to-Toe with Division Two Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Lady Wildcats (2-7, 2-1 NEAC) put forth an impressive effort on the road against Division II Roberts Wesleyan (3-5) on Monday, testing the Raiders wire-to-wire in the 19-11 loss. SUNYIT goaltender Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn High School) was impressive in defeat, registering 12 saves against a 31-shot barrage by the home team.

"Aubrey played consistently aggressive between the pipes," said 'Cats Head Coach Erynn Anderson, continuing, "The score of the game does not do our team justice…our defense did a fantastic job of limiting their drives and making them work for their shots, and we transitioned very nicely today with a lot of credit going to [Aubrey's] composure."

SUNYIT stayed close to the Raiders for the majority of the first half, tying the score 3-3 with 11:48 to play in the first half on a Veronica Metz (Morrisville, N.Y. / MVCC) goal. Metz had a relatively quiet day, however, compared to her recent scoring performances. Taking over for her on offense was junior captain Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, N.Y. / LaFayette High School). Jackowski went off for 5 goals on 7 shots to lead all scorers on the day.

"The middies gave us lots of offensive opportunity," said Anderson in reference to Jackowski and her teammates, "and our attack helped give us a solid 7-player offensive effort."

"We are proud of what the ladies did against a new and talented Division Two program and look forward to taking this level of play to Morrisville next week," she concluded.

True to Coach Anderson's word, the Wildcats will journey down Route 12 next Wednesday, April 11, for a conference match up with the Mustangs. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
