WBB: Wildcats Drop Non-Conference Game to Saints.

CANTON, N.Y.- The SUNY Poly Women's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game on Tuesday night to St. Lawrence 54-41. The Wildcats finished up their non-conference schedule after Tuesday's night game and will shift their focus to their final conference weekend in hopes of making the postseason.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Early shooting struggles hurt the Wildcats on Tuesday night, as St. Lawrence took an early lead and led the entire first quarter. The Saints took an 18-9 lead into the second quarter, highlighted by 6 first quarter points from Cam Roberts. Hannah Shipley knocked down one of two three-pointers of the game for the Wildcats in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, great defensive effort held the Saints to only 9 points, but the Wildcats offense was unable to match their defensive efforts, and the Saints would take a 27-17 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Wildcats would cut it to a 6-point game when Sophia Murray hit a three-pointer to make it a 29-23 game. Murray would finish the game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Wildcats. The Saints would answer the Wildcats' run with a run of their own, and come back to outscore the Wildcats in the third quarter.

Although the Wildcats outscored the Saints in the final quarter it proved to not be enough, as the Saints held onto the 54-41 victory. The Wildcats will be back at home this weekend as the host  Eastern Nazarene and Morrisville.
