WBB: 21-Point Performance From Jackson Leads Wildcats Past Lions 73-58.

Quincy, Mass. -  The SUNY Poly women's basketball defeated Eastern Nazarene 73-58 on Friday night behind a 21-point performance from Alysa Jackson, With the win, the Wildcats move to 3-10 on the season and 2-2 in North Atlantic Conference play. With the loss, the Lions move to 7-7 on the season and 2-4 in North Atlantic Conference play.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The first quarter proved to be the tightest of the night, as the Lions raced out to a 20-18 lead to win the quarter. An 8-point quarter from Sabanna Berrios led all scorers. Alysa Jackson scored 7 of her 21 points in the first quarter, including connecting once from three-point range.

In the second quarter, a Kelsey Meca three-pointer, followed by a Patricia Vanlue layup would tie the game at 25-25 with 7:23 to play. Both teams would exchange leads before a three-pointer from Hannah Shipley with :10 seconds remaining in the half gave the Wildcats a 37-34 lead going into halftime.

The Wildcats would refuse to give up the lead the rest of the way, and would use a strong second half performance to hold on to the 73-58 victory. Four Wildcats starters (Sophia Murray, Alivia Turk, Alysa Jackson, and Patricia Vanlue) would score in double-digits. Vanlue would add 12 rebounds to complete the double-double.

 

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday, December 9th as the travel to SUNY Cobleskill for a North Atlantic Conference game. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM.
