WBB: Wildcats Drop Game to Lakers 67-43.

UTICA, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's basketball lost to Oswego State on Sunday afternoon 67-43. The Lakers were led by Giavanna White-Principio who had a team-high 15 points. The Wildcats were led by Sophia Murray, who finished with 10 points. With the loss, the Wildcats move to 1-9 on the season.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Wildcats would have a strong first quarter led by performances from Sophia Murray, Alivia Turk, Alysa Jackson, and Amanda Sweet. Sweet would make a layup with 1:04 left to give the Wildcats a 13-11 lead. White-Principio would answer with a layup to tie the game at 13-13, which would be the score at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter would prove to be the turning point in the game as the Lakers outscored the Wildcats 19-6. The Wildcats were unable to see shots fall down and the Lakers would take a 32-19 lead into halftime.

The Wildcats would create more scoring opportunities in the second half but were unable to slow down the Lakers' offense and wouldn't be able to overcome the deficit. The Lakers would hold on for the 67-43 victory.

 

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, December 29th as they head to Nazareth to play against Brooklyn College. The game is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
