BUFFALO, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's basketball team was defeated by Elmira College 60-30 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Wildcats move to 0-3 on the season. The Soaring Eagles improved to 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED: In the first quarter, Kelsey Meca knocked down a three-pointer to get the Wildcats on the board and cut the Soaring Eagles lead to 4-3. Two Sophia Murray free throws and a three-pointer from Alysa Jackson would give the Wildcats an 8-4 lead with under 5 minutes in the first quarter. The Soaring Eagles would go on a 10-2 run to end the quarter, however, and take a 14-10 lead.

In the second quarter, the Soaring Eagles would catch fire, outscoring the Wildcats 18-8 and extending their lead to 32-18 going into halftime.

The Wildcats would struggle to shoot the basketball in the second half, leading to another large run for the Soaring Eagles. They would maintain their lead and hold on for the 60-30 victory. Laura Bogota would score 12 points for the Soaring Eagles, and Taylor Jung would also chip in 10 points.

The Wildcats were led by Sophia Murray and Alysa Jackson, who each scored 7 points.
