SB: Wildcats Sweep Another Weekend Series

Clinton, N.Y - The SUNY Poly women's softball team picked up another three wins, thanks to some hot bats and stellar pitching. In three games against the SUNY Canton Kangaroos, SUNY Poly scored a total of 47 runs, while only giving up 12. The wins give the Wildcats a 16-4 record on the season, as well as pushes their win streak to six games. 

GAME 1: 

Game one was an offensive showdown, as both teams scored six runs by the end of the second inning. A six run first inning for the Wildcats that included RBI hits from Amy DeSena, Joy Stevens, Kelly Powell and Ava Faragon was quickly answered by the Kangaroos, who scored six of their own in the second inning. After some miscues by the Kangaroos, the Wildcats would regain the lead in the third. A string of hits in the top of the fourth would once again give the Kangaroos a lead. Down 12-9, SUNY Poly would tack on 10 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Alivia Turk, Kimberly Birmingham and Jadyn Childers all knocked in some runs, with Kelly Powell capping the explosive inning off with a grand slam. The Wildcats would finish the game in five innings by a score of 20-12.

GAME 2: 

The Wildcats once again showed off their offensive capabilities in game two of the series. Scoring started in the first inning, when Joy Stevens and Jadyn Childers both hit an RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead. After a couple of scoreless innings, the Wildcats would tally three more runs in the 3rd inning, behind two more RBI knocks from Joy Stevens and Jadyn Childers. The Wildcats would wrap game two up in the bottom of the 4th inning, scoring six runs on seven hits. Stevens finished the game with four strikeouts and only allowed two hits. The final score of game two was 11-0.

GAME 3: 

Riding the momentum from game two, The Wildcats dominated the Kangaroos in the final game of the series. The Wildcats combined for a total of 13 hits and 16 runs. By the end of the second inning, the Wildcats were ahead by a score of 8-0. SUNY Poly would add on eight more runs over the next couple of innings, ending the game in 5 innings by a score of 16-0. Jadyn Childers, Alivia Turk. Kimberly Birmingham and Kaitlyn Findlay continued their impressive days at the plate, totaling 13 RBIS amongst themselves. Trinity Critelli was on the mound for the Wildcats. She picked up 12 strikeouts and only allowed 1 hit over five innings.
