Wildcats Sweep Weekend Series Against the Broncos.

Delhi, N.Y. - The Wildcats finished a three game sweep of the SUNY Delhi Broncos over the weekend. The Wildcats finished two of the three games in five innings. SUNY Poly's all-time strikeout leader Trinity Critelli was on the mound for two of the games, combining for 12 innings pitched and 20 strikeouts. Critelli was also credited with a no-hitter in game one. Joy Stevens pitched game two, finishing with five strikeouts over five innings pitched. The Wildcats are now 10-2 on the season. 

GAME 1: 

Game one was dominated by Trinity Critelli. Critelli pitched a nearly flawless game, striking out 11 batters while allowing no hits. 

The Wildcat bats were hot, beginning with an RBI double from Kimberly Birmingham that scored Taylor Hunter in the top of the second inning. 

With RBI hits coming from Joy Stevens, Kaitlyn Findlay and Taylor Hunter, the Wildcats would cruise to an 11-0 victory in five innings. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 


GAME 2: 

In game two, the Wildcats once again dominated on the mound and at the plate. Joy Stevens led the way on the mound, securing a win behind a five inning performance where she only allowed one run on eight hits. 

Scoring for the Wildcats began in the second inning when five runs were scored, capped off by an RBI triple from Kimberly Birmingham

The Broncos would score their only run in the bottom half of the second. 

The Wildcats would add four runs over the next three innings, thanks to a couple of RBI singles from Taylor Hunter.

The Wildcats would wrap this one up in five innings by a score of 9-1. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Joy Stevens picked up the win, throwing five innings and registering five strikeouts. 
  • Taylor Hunter logged three RBIs on two hits. 
  • Ariel Bell went 3-3 at the plate. 

GAME 3: 

SUNY Poly jumped on the board quickly in game three, plating four runs in the first inning. Amy DeSena, Kelly Powell and Jadyn Childers all tallied RBIs. 

After the Broncos would score a run in the bottom of the first, a two run triple from Kaitlyn Findlay in the top of the second would give the Wildcats a 6-1 lead. 

SUNY Delhi would add a run on a groundout in the bottom of the fourth. 

SUNY Poly would add a couple of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, and would eventually go on to close out the game on top by a score of 8-2. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

Trinity Critelli pitched seven innings, picking up nine strikeouts. 

Kaitlyn Findlay picked up two RBIs on two hits. 

Amy DeSena went 3-5 at the plate, tallying 2 RBIs and scoring twice.
