UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly softball team lost to Keuka on Tuesday in a NEAC first round game 5-1. The game was lost in the fifth inning when Keuka scored five runs on a two-RBI single and a home run. The Wildcats would plate one in the bottom of the sixth, but it was not enough to keep their season alive. The Wildcats finished their 2019 season with an overall record of 14-19 with a NEAC record of 10-6.

TURNING POINT:

The Wildcats and the Wolves were in a scoreless contest through four innings. In the fifth inning that all changed. The Wolves five-run inning got going on a RBI single by Whitney Tyler who drove home Jessee Hammers and Danielle Bosch. Jordan Cole would put an exclamation point on the inning with a three-run home run to left field with two outs to give Keuka a five-run lead. The Wildcats would score a run in the bottom of the sixth on a fielders choice groundball by Bailee Haddad (Frankfort, N.Y.), but that would end up being their only run of the game.

NOTABLES:

• Courtney Morton (Whitesboro, N.Y.), Chalee Wratten (Brookfield, N.Y.), and Kali Maggiliono (Whitesboro, N.Y.) each had a hit in the game for the Wildcats. Maggiolino scored the Wildcats lone run.
• Kayla Maiolo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the losing pitcher for the Wildcats. She wrapped up her season with an 8-9 record on the mound.
• Jessee Hammers was the only batter with multiple hits in the game. She went 2-4 with a run scored.
• Jordan Cole had a game-high three RBIs. She went 1-2 with a home run and a walk.
• Whitney Tyler was the winning pitcher for Keuka. She had six strikeouts, allowed three hits, and had an earned run in seven innings. She also drove in two runs at the plate.

The Wildcats will take on Hamilton College in their last game of the season on Wednesday, May 1st at 4:00 PM. Game one of the doubleheader will begin at 4:00 PM at Hamilton College.
