UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly softball team took two games from the Morrisville State Mustangs on Monday in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. The Wildcat pitching was the highlight of the games, but the offense also put up 16 runs in the two games helping SUNY Poly improve to 8-6 in NEAC play. Kayla Maiolo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) threw a gem in game one, pitching five innings of no-hit softball. It was her first no-hitter at SUNY Poly.
GAME ONE:
Kayla Maiolo had a fantastic day for the Wildcats. The junior threw a no-hitter in game one of the double-header. She pitched five innings, allowed no runs, no hits, struck out six, and walked one. She also drove in the game-ending run in the bottom of the fifth. The Wildcat offense scored eight runs, forcing a five-inning mercy rule. Three Wildcats had multiple hits in the game and two had multiple RBIs.

Chalee Wratten (Brookfield, N.Y.) went 2-2 in the game with a double and a game-high four RBIs.

Courtney Morton (Whitesboro, N.Y.) had two hits in the game and a pair of RBIs. She drove in both runs on a second-inning double that drove in Kali Maggiolino (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Chalee Wratten.

Bailey Wood (Preston Hollow, N.Y.) went 2-3 in the game with a double. She also scored twice in the game. She is hitting .315 this season.

Jordan Penoyer (Sherrill, N.Y.) and Kayla Maiolo each drove in a run for the Wildcats. Penoyer went 1-1 with two runs scored. Maiolo went 1-2.
GAME TWO:
In game two, the Wildcats got off to a hot start, scoring four times in the second inning and four times in the third. Morrisville scored two runs in game two; one in the top of the third and one run in the top of the fifth. Kayla Maiolo earned the win on the mound, her second of the day. She is now 7-8 this season.

Melissa Barber (Nassau, N.Y.) had a great game for the Wildcats. She had two hits, three RBIs, and drew a walk. She is currently leading the Wildcats with a .364 average this season.

Chalee Wratten went 2-4 with two runs scored in the game. She finished the doubleheader with four hits in six at-bats.

Bailee Haddad (Frankfort, N.Y.) drove in two runs in the game. She went 1-3 with a single and a walk. She is hitting .323 this season with a team-high 18 RBIs.

Kali Maggiolino (Whitesboro, N.Y.) drove in two runs in the game. She also drew two walks and scored twice.

Ciera Sprague was the only Mustang with multiple hits in the game. She went 2-4 with two singles and had two stolen bases. She also scored both of the Morrisville runs.
UP NEXT:
The Wildcats will take on Cazenovia on Thursday, April 25th. The first game of the NEAC doubleheader will start at 3:30 PM. The Wildcats will celebrate Senior Day on Thursday with a short ceremony between the two games.
