SB: Wildcats Finish NEAC Road Trip 1-3.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA. - The SUNY Poly softball team traveled to Keuka and Penn College this past weekend for a pair of NEAC double headers. The trip didn't go quite as planned for the Wildcats as they lost two to Keuka on Saturday and split with Penn on Sunday to go 1-3.

The Wildcats struggled offensively against Keuka on day one of their trip, plating just two runs in their two games. In game one Fallon Reinold (Holland Patent, N.Y.) went 2-3 at the plate and threw a solid six innings on the mound. She allowed six hits and three runs. She struck out six batters and walked none. The Wildcats lost game one 3-2 after holding a 2-0 lead through four innings. Keuka's Sam Blum changed the game with one swing of the bat; a three run homerun to give the Wolfpack a 3-2 lead.

In game two against Keuka the Wildcats were shut out after scattering just four hits. Keuka scraped together three runs on nine hits; all of which were singles. Hannah Wasco (Rome, N.Y.) was the pitcher of record for the Wildcats. The final score was 3-0 Keuka.

On day two the Wildcats came out of the gate strong. The offensive came to life in the top of the first inning scoring nine runs on seven hits. Fallon Reinold hit a grand slam in the inning. She ended the game 2-3 with a walk, four RBIs and two runs scored. She also earned the win on the mound throwing a complete game and striking out six batters. Kali Maggiolino (Whitesboro, N.Y.) went 2-4 at the plate with a run scored. Erika Charbonneau (Boonville, N.Y.) went 1-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. The final score of the game was 9-5.

The offensive struggles returned for the Wildcats in game two against Penn. The team managed just two hits in the game and did not score a run. Hannah Wasco was credited with the loss. Elizabeth Riegler (Boonville, N.Y.) pitched well in relief allowing no hits and striking out three batters in three innings of work. The final score of the game was 3-0.

With the 1-3 finish for the weekend, the Wildcats are now 7-11 overall and 3-3 in NEAC play. The team will be back in action on Wednesday for their home opener against Cazenovia. The double header is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
