Five SUNYIT Softball Players Named to All-Conference Teams

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Five Wildcats made the NEAC North Division All-Conference rolls for the SUNYIT Softball Team on Thursday afternoon, with a league-high 4 players making the First Team.

Leading the way was sophomore Krista Pristera (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford), who batted a team-best .404 while racking up a team-high 31 RBI's. Pristera also played an excellent third base, making just 7 errors on the year for a .944 fielding percentage.

Following Pristera on the First Team was senior and last year's NEAC North Division Player of the Year, Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, N.Y. / RFA). Brognano capped off a remarkable career for SUNYIT by batting .387 while hitting 3 homers and driving in 19 runs.

Fellow seniors Lauren Marleau (Prospect, N.Y. / Holland Patent) and Erica Hovey (Dexter, N.Y.  / Jefferson CC) made the First and Second Teams, respectively, as Marleau hit .358 with 17 RBI's all while being arguably the best defensive catcher in the conference, and Hovey led the Wildcats with a 13-6 record and a 2.67 earned-run-average.

Notably, the final All-Conference selection for the Wildcats was first-year pitcher/outfielder Fallon Reinold (Holland Patent, N.Y. / Holland Patent). Reinold was one of just three first-year players to make the All-Conference First Team, finishing the year with an 8-5 record on the mound and a .327 batting average while hitting out of the 2-spot for the Wildcats.

SUNYIT will now look to add a conference championship to their trophy case, as the Wildcats travel to Penn St.-Berks this weekend as the #2 seed from the North Division.
